Christina Codemo, MS, CHMM, CAC, REAII - Project Manager
Ms. Codemo is a Senior Project Manager and Environmental Assessment
Manager with SCA. Ms. Codemo has a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, a Master's degree in Biology/Ecology, and has over 17 years experience in the Environmental Consulting and Hazardous Materials Management fields with an emphasis in asbestos, lead-based paint, hazardous materials investigation and remediation projects, and environmental site assessments. Ms. Codemo has worked on hundreds of projects for local, state, and federal government agencies, school districts, and commercial, private, and industrial properties, and is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, Registered Environmental Assessor II, and a Certified Asbestos Consultant.
Ms. Codemo designed and
managed the comprehensive survey of 18 buildings at the Karl Holton Youth
Correctional Facility slated for demolition. The buildings included
recreational areas, a medical clinic, chapel, dormitories, and class areas. The
survey was designed to determine the condition and extent of hazardous
materials including asbestos, lead, PCBs, mercury, arsenic, heavy metals and
naturally-occurring asbestos in soils. Ms. Codemo coordinated destructive
testing that included sampling of vapor barriers under restrooms, building
slabs, surfacing material for outdoor recreation courts, concrete and vapor
barriers associated with an outdoor swimming pool, and lightweight concrete for
roofing materials. Ms. Codemo prepared detailed abatement cost estimates and
abatement design documents/ hazardous materials abatement specifications for
the large-scale demolition project.
Ms. Codemo also serves as Project Manager for the San Francisco General Hospital Rebuild Project. The project involves renovations, building and subterranean utility tunnel demolition, and upgrades at San Francisco General Hospital as well as construction of the new Hospital building. Over the past few years, SCA has conducted comprehensive resurveys of the complex to prepare for planned renovation and upgrade activities covering the 545,000 square feet of building space and 15 buildings including hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and the central plant. Ms. Codemo has prepared abatement specifications, cost estimates and abatement oversight during removal of identified hazardous materials. In addition, Ms. Codemo has managed construction monitoring for noise, lead and naturally-occurring asbestos during excavation activities to facilitate construction of the new hospital.
Ms. Codemo has managed hundreds of environmental site assessments for
non-profit and for-profit developers, private clients, and government agencies throughout California and the Western United States. The sites have included
commercial and light industrial properties in multiple jurisdictions
throughout the Western United States. For example, she managed the
Phase 1 assessment, radon survey, and historical review of the
1,100-unit Darby Woods complex in Columbus, Ohio. Ms. Codemo's site assessment clients include SunAmerica, McCormack
Baron & Associates, Bank of America, the San Francisco
Redevelopment Agency, Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation,
and the Chinatown Development Corporation.
