Experience:

Mr. Cass has over thirty years experience in the engineering and environmental fields, with a specialization in asbestos, lead-based paint and hazardous materials investigation and remediation projects for K-12 schools and universities.  As a Principal-in-Charge and one of the founders of SCA, Mr. Cass has worked on numerous projects for local Districts including San Francisco Unified (SFUSD), West Contra Costa (WCCUSD), Oakland (OUSD), South San Francisco (SSFUSD), Moraga (MSD), San Mateo-Foster City (SMFCUSD), Berkeley (BUSD), Acalanes (AHSD), among others.

Projects typically have included asbestos and lead-based paint (LBP) surveys and preparation of abatement plans and specifications, abatement cost estimates and scheduling as part of each District’s Leroy Green Modernization work. Renovations typically have entailed boiler and mechanical system replacements, repainting, window and door replacements, ADA improvements, new elevators, reroofing, access ramps and other modernizations improvements as approved by the California Office of Public School Construction (OPSC).

Project management assignments include serving as Program Manager for as-needed Hazardous Materials contracts for the Ports of San Francisco and Oakland, the San Francisco and Oakland Departments of Public Works, Levi Strauss, Boston Properties, Washington Mutual Bank, and Cal-Fed Bank. Mr. Cass has been an instructor in Asbestos Project Design for U.C. Berkeley Extension's Hazardous Materials Management Certificate Program.
