Experience:
Mr. Cass has over thirty four years experience in the
engineering and environmental fields, with a specialization in indoor air
quality and mold & fungi investigations.
As a Principal-in-Charge and one of the founders of SCA, Mr. Cass has
worked on numerous projects for private entities such as Union Bank of
California, Boston Properties (San Francisco, SSF & San Jose), Oracle USA,
and the Equity Office (Northern California), among others. In addition, Mr. Cass has provided indoor
air quality services and assessments to such public entities as the City of
Albany, the City of Oakland, and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Agency
(SCCTA).
Projects typically have included conducting
visual inspections of problem areas, including a review of the HVAC system,
occupancy levels and uses, office equipment, etc. In particular, Mr. Cass focused on evidence of any roof leaks,
plumbing leaks, efflorescence on the exterior walls, floors or ceiling, and
other evidence of mold, fungi or particulate sources.
During
the course of the on-site visual inspections, Mr. Cass utilized various
instrumentation such as a TSI Q-Trak Indoor Air Quality Analyzer. Particulate readings were made utilizing a
TSI Dust-Trak Particulate Monitor. Mr.
Cass conducted sampling for mold using an Air-O-Cell cassette for mold and
fungi analyses and conducted water intrusion investigations using a FLIR
infrared camera, Tramex Moisture Encounter Meter & Delmhorst Moisture
Meter.
Mr.
Cass provides the results of the above sampling generally in letter
reports. This letter-report outlines
sample results sample locations, and relevant observations. Other relevant parameters, such as sampling
times, dates, occupancy levels, etc., are reported. The letter-reports also discussed the results and recommendations
for corrective actions or further testing, as warranted
